The quote in this month's cover is from a movie called "Dr. Strangelove." While we usually put real quotes by academics, politicians, or activists, the quote above fits eerily with today's state of mind. "I wish we had one of them doomsday machines." can be fit into almost any foreign policy - someone is always looking for the next big weapon, be it nuclear, space-based, or stemming from nanotechnology. Such offensive tools, however, blind us to the other threat to human kind: degradation of environment, an economic suicide.
