As a youth-run news organization with a strong focus on social inequalities and injustices, Five Minutes to Midnight revolves around human rights-based discussions. Recently, we have delved into a new series of projects investigating the power of free expression (Article 13 Initiative), a gift that much of the world takes for granted. For example, currently in Turkey, Article 301 poses a threat to freedom of expression, and has caused the imprisonment of countless citizens, journalists, and authors. Yet this country is simultaneously growing to become the largest power in Europe. As Cuba undergoes similar limitations to free speech, the rest of the world must begin to open their eyes to truly understand the effects of these countries' decisions. As always, keep reading, keep an open mind, keep informed.
