Toronto Urban Music Festival (3 September 2005)
On Saturday, September 3rd, Five Minutes to Midnight was represented at the
annual Toronto Urban Music Festival, which was held at the Exhibition Place.
Many people showed their support for Five Minutes to Midnight, making
themselves more aware of our cause, as many of the artists used their music
as an outlet to promote human rights and cultural diversity.
UNESCO (6 September 2005)
Five Minutes to Midnight was represented by Wojciech Gryc at the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Youth
Consultation on Tuesday, September 6th. Gryc spoke of the significance of
Media and Information & Communications Technologies (ICTs) as a way to
promote peace in developing countries. Five Minutes to Midnight also had the
privilege of being exposed to many more NGOs at the conference.
Children's Human Rights in China (8 September 2005)
On Thursday, September 8th, Five Minutes to Midnight was represented on the
panel of experts at the Children's Human Rights in China Conference,
sponsored by Falun Gong Canada. Five Minutes to Midnight's contribution to
this cause was making the significance of media literacy in human rights
issues known. As the number of human rights issues grows, Five Minutes to
Midnight will continue to be devoted in providing a media outlet to take the
first step to solve these issues; to be aware.
University of Toronto at Scarborough (22 September 2005)
On Thursday, September 22nd, Five Minutes to Midnight was
present at the Human Rights Concert held at UTSC, represented by the FMM UTSC
branch. The event raised awareness on numerous human rights issues, with bands
acknowledging the work of organizations present at the event.
