Short Biography: I educated myself politically when I was very young, and through that learned a lot about inequality in the world. As time went on, I concentrated more on the violation of the rights of children and women, since they directly related to me. As a priviledged young girl growing up in Canada, it never occured to me that there were women in the world who were denied basic rights: the right to free speech, the right to work, the right to vote, and, possibly the most controversial, reproductive rights. Although those of us in the developed world are priviledged enough to have these rights, too many other women are not, and I think it's important that we educate people on these issues, as well as human rights issues in general. Otherwise, ignorance will reign and change will be forever out of reach.
